The two available engines for 2023 carry up to the 2024 model year with the introduction of a mild-hybrid component. The first system is a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter unit. In 2023, it produced 228 horsepower, increasing to 241 horsepower. The higher-level powertrain's upgrade takes its output to 312 horsepower. This advanced engine also pairs with an upgraded exhaust system. In 2024, all trim levels have standard all-wheel drive for the first time.

The BMW X2 is strongly designed in 2023 with a sporty, powerful look. In 2024, the X2's look is dramatically restyled, and the body is longer. The addition of 7.6 inches yields substantially more cabin and cargo space and gives the exterior a leaner appearance.
