Serving Fairfax, VA

The 2023 BMW 5 Series sedan has four options with different performance capabilities. The base 530i is followed by the 540i, the 530e, and the M550i xDrive. If you are debating between a gas-powered sedan and a plug-in hybrid sedan, your search may be focused on the 2023 BMW 530i and the 530e. How do these luxury sedans stand apart from each other?

Performance

Under the hood of the 530i, a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder gas engine generates 248 horsepower. It works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 530e combines this same gas engine with a hybrid motor to produce 288 horsepower. This plug-in hybrid system has a 21-mile range of all-electric power.

Appearance

There are no exterior differences between the 530i and the 530e except for a plug-in charging port for the latter option. These premium sedans have a slim, decadent design, long curvature from end to end, and a pair of flowing accent lines across the doors. The nose is perfectly designed to complement the look with a short, wide grille featuring chrome bars and an extended bumper that culminates on the sides into impactful air intakes. The headlights are equally appealing, with bent LED accent ribbons as highlights. Both models have standard 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, and adaptive headlights.

Features

These 2023 BMW 530 sedan versions have comparable standards and available features. They include a digital gauge cluster, driver profiles, simulated leather material, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch central display, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and others. Upgrades are also available for trims, including traffic jam assistance, adaptive cruise control, a power trunk, a Harman Kardon sound system, a remote engine start, heated front and rear seats, a head-up display, massaging front seats, and several additional features.
