Serving Fairfax, VA

If you are in the market for a mid-level BMW crossover SUV, your attention will naturally turn to the X4 and the X5. These sleek, well-appointed models are close siblings in the 2022 lineup. While they share some important traits, their differences are impressively stunning. Our inventory at BMW of Fairfax is usually well-stocked with a variety of trim levels for both models, and our sales reps will show you the current possibilities in person when you stop by soon. What can you expect to find when you get more familiar with the 2022 X4 and X5?

Performance

The differences between these BMW crossover SUVs begin with their capabilities. Across the trim lineup, the X4 has two engine options. One of these is a turbo 2.0-liter, a four-cylinder design that generates 248 horsepower. You can choose the 382-horsepower, 3.0-liter, mild-hybrid V6 engine for more oomph behind the wheel. The 2022 BMW X5 has three engine systems. The possibilities begin with a 335-horsepower V6 turbo 3.0-liter system. A V6 plug-in hybrid engine is also offered, and it gives you 389 horsepower. The premium X5 trim level is equipped with a turbo 4.4-liter V8 gas engine that generates 523 horsepower.

Appearance

Except for the BMW-branded, two-part grille on their noses, the X4 and the X5 have brilliantly different exterior designs. The X4 is a crossover coupe with an aerodynamic profile. Its raked roof flows into a hatchback-type liftgate. The sides show off a pair of crisp accent bars and a premium air vent near the front wheel fender. The hood is boldly angled, and the nose is adorned with a sporty lower fascia and radiantly angled headlights. The X5, on the other hand, has a taller roofline with smoother accents through the sides. The sides have geometrically defined haunches, and the front fender’s air vent stands almost vertically. The headlights add an aggressive touch with an upper LED light bar.

Features

These 2022 BMW models are thoughtfully appointed with a mix of coveted and innovative features. The X4 has a video drive recorder, a Harman Kardon sound system, a surround-view camera, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, heated seats for both rows, and a wireless charging pad in select trim levels. The X5 has an optional third row in the rear to boost functionality. It has many of the same features as you will find in the X4, and some of its trim levels add massaging front seats, a four-zone auto climate management system, and a few other extras.
