Serving Fairfax, VA

While you may have already narrowed down your search for your next vehicle to the X5, deciding which model year and trim level to head home in can be a challenge. There are bold differences between the 2018 and 2019 versions of the X5, but both have standout appeal and exciting capabilities. With a closer look at this mid-sized luxury vehicle, you can make your next SUV purchase more confidently.

Performance

The 2018 BMW X5 is offered with four powertrain options. These include a turbo V6 that produces 300 horsepower and a diesel V6 that delivers 255 horsepower. You can also choose a 2018 X5 with a 445-horsepower V8 or a 308-horsepower plug-in hybrid engine. On the other hand, the 2019 BMW X5 is only available with two engines, and both are associated with a revamped suspension system. The powertrains include a turbocharged 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that generates 335 horsepower and a turbo V8, 4.4-liter engine that puts out 456 horsepower.

Appearance

You can easily differentiate these two models in a side-by-side comparison. The 2018 X5 has double-elemental headlights that angle dramatically back from the stretched, two-part grille. Round fog lights are mounted directly below the headlights. The sides have linear sculpting. Additional features on the 2019 X5 are adaptive headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch wheels. The 2019 BMW X5, on the other hand, has a taller grille with reshaped headlights. The fog lights have a horizontal series of bulbs, and they are embedded in metal-accented air vents. In addition, the side contouring on the 2019 X5 has been modernized beautifully.

Features

The 2018 and 2019 X5 crossovers are both offered with varying features across their trim levels. Depending on the trim selected, your X5 could come with a navigation system, a premium sound system, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, and more. The 2018 version stands alone with its 10.2-inch display screen and premium vinyl upholstery. The 2019 X5 comes with a 12.3-inch display screen and simulated leather material.
