In 2025, the X5 continues to be available with three gas-powered engines and a plug-in hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid version of the BMW X5, the xDrive50e, has powerful capabilities and introduces several new features that are also available in the gas-powered versions of the 2025 X5.
In 2025, the BMW X5 xDrive50e will be the first model to offer lane change assistance. In addition, Highway Assist hands-free driving is available as an upgrade. These features enable the driver to confirm the intent to change lanes with an eye movement. Once the intent is confirmed, the vehicle will complete the maneuver automatically.
Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid X5 has a turbo 3.0-liter V6 gas engine mated with two electric motors and a rechargeable battery. The total output is 483 horsepower, and the all-electric driving range is 40 miles. The X5 xDrive50e has standard all-wheel drive, an air suspension system, and adaptive suspension dampers.
The exterior of the X5 xDrive50e is styled with a long, sloping hood as well as a tall, arched hood and slight definition over the rear haunches. On the nose, the X5 xDrive50e shows off a large bumper with angled support columns. The two-part grille has vertical, double-bar columns, and the stretched, pointed LED headlights sit above powerful air inlets. The X5 xDrive50e's exterior features are a panoramic sunroof, heated and power-folding side mirrors, run-flat tires, 20-inch wheels, and cornering lights.
