The BMW X4 has been refreshed for the 2022 model year, with updates made to the interior and exterior. A hybrid powertrain is now equipped in the X4 M40i.
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is the base powertrain for the 2022 BMW X4, providing the SUV with 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid powertrain equipped in the 2022 X4 M40i consists of a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine and an electric motor. M40i's hybrid powertrain produces 382 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system is standard for the new BMW X4.
