Performance
The 3 Series is a small sedan that is offered in three trims, and all trims have their own powertrain. The base level comes with a turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 225 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid, turbo four-cylinder engine is also available, producing 288 combined horsepower. At the top of the 3 Series trim lineup, a mild-hybrid, turbo V6 engine puts out 382 combined horsepower. The 4 Series, on the other hand, is available in a coupe and convertible body styles and comes in four trims. The first two trims receive 255 horsepower from a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine. The upper two trims have a 382-horsepower, V6, turbo 3.0-liter system.
Appearance
With striking design differences, the 2023 3 Series and 4 Series are easy to tell apart on the road. The 3 Series has a laid-back look with a long, sloping hood and a bold arch through the hood. The door panels are elegantly contoured and have deeper, crisper accents on the lower section. The front end is distinctive, with a short, wide grille that shows off BMW’s sectioned design. It links with slender headlights that show off a pair of rounded LED ribbons. The lower fascia is confidently defined by L-shaped air vents and a prominent bumper. The 2023 4 Series, on the other hand, shows off molded fenders and an L-shaped accent that runs through the side panels. A strong swoop defines the nose through the hood and a tall, slender grille that drops down to bisect the bumper. The LED headlights have a scalloped look, and they sit atop tall, thin air intakes.
Features
The 2023 3 Series and the 4 Series share several cabin and safety features at select trim levels. These items may include active lane-keeping, evasive steering assist, active cruise control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, keyless entry, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a curved central display screen, a digital driver’s panel, BMW connected services and more. The 3 Series exclusively has a curved central display screen. The 2023 4 Series may also be available with a Harman Kardon sound system, Live Cockpit Professional and a few other items.
